YYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought I was getting into the swing of things, now I know for sure. I was awarded teacher of the quarter at my school!
Now I'm Swinging!!!!!!!.......
Vocal Music at the High School first period, then over to the elementary school, next either cheerleading practice or a game..... I think I am FINALLY getting into the swing of things! I was having a tough time at the beginning of the year trying to get used my new schedule but I believe I have it now.
Now we're Rocking!
I am feeling SOOOOO much better! I was having a tough time trying to get my cheerleaders to get a long, starting with the Captains. After a few meetings with the cheerleaders and new rules, things seem to be improving. The captains are actually working together now!
Singing in Minor Tones......
In the Halloween Spirit, I chose to teach a lesson on Major vs. Minor Tones to my fifth and sixth graders. My principal thought it was great! Ater finishing the lesson, he allowed me to teach them my version of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance. We performed the dance at the Ocotober PTO meeting and the town's Harvest Festival.
Hip Hopping!!!!!!
The most exciting thing happened to me! I was chosen to be the Senior High Cheer Sponsor!!!!!!!!! Now, you would think this might be too much on a first year teacher but it is going GREAT:-) The cheerleaders received me well and the team is working hard to be the greatest. We are not a competing squad YET but we will be next year!

LADY SINGS THE BLUES!!!!!
WOW!!!!! I've never had a day like today. Normally, my classes are as smooth as Jazz but today seemed like I stepped into the shoes of Miss Billie Holiday. I felt like singing, " Good Morning Heartache!" Yes morning, all of the trouble started as soon as I walked into my classroom.
Since i share my first period classroom and equipment with another teacher, I was shocked to find out the keyboard I use for my choir, was broken. One of his band members broke the cord after the game Friday night. Needless to say, my choir couldn't practice today and we're preparing for an upcoming performance.
Next, I had a classroom full of ENERGETIC second graders. It seemed as if the lesson I had prepared for today wasn't interesting enough. I couldn't seem to keep their attention. I almost had a breakdown. I had never seen them act unruly. I had to step out and gather myself. On top of that, every time I started them on a roll, the intercom interrupted me.
Finally, after school today I started having Thriller dance practice for the fifth and sixth graders. We're performing for the PTO meeting next Monday. I couldn't believe how many students were interested in participating. I was excited until I actually started trying to teach the dance, BY MYSELF!!!!!! It was so much, trying to keep that many students altogether. I just pray everything will run smoothly tomorrow.
